Ashley has a B.A. in Creative Writing and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Science in Library Science degree from Clarion University. She has previously worked as the District Consultant for the Johnstown District, and has also worked as the director of the Highland Community Library, the Gallitzin Public Library, and the Cresson Public Library. She currently serves as the Chair of HSLC (Hosting Solutions and Library Consulting), and has volunteered on numerous conference planning committees for the Pennsylvania Library Association. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Library Association’s Academy of Leadership Studies (PALS) and has written content for the Pennsylvania Library Association’s Bulletin and the Compendium blog. She loves to read, particularly fantasy, young adult, and classics. She also enjoys kayaking, hiking, and baking.

Becky serves as the District Consultant for libraries in Cambria, Indiana and Somerset counties. Acting as a liaison between the district’s member libraries and Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Becky is passionate about working to provide libraries with the resources they need to serve their unique communities. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is a lesser known expert in popular music, holding a certificate in The Music of the Beatles from the University of Rochester. In her personal time, Becky enjoys listening to, playing, and dancing to music with her family as well as walking and running on our area’s outdoor trails. 

Barb serves the county by helping all system libraries with training, research and other tasks. As a librarian, Barb’s favorite part of the job is helping with research through the state-wide Chat with a Librarian system. 

Patty joined the CCL Staff in November 2019. She loves having such a creative and rewarding role—keeping the community informed about all of the amazing services and programs offered at the library. Her goals include growing the library’s community relationships, social media presence and fundraising efforts. She loves music, comedy and shopping thrift stores for vintage treasures.

Stephanie has worked for the Cambria County Library for 14 years. She began her career as the senior bookkeeper of the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center. After four years, she left that position to begin a family. After raising her family, she reentered the workforce at the library as the administrative assistant to the director. Stephanie took over the business manager position in 2016.

She lives in rural Cambria County with her husband, her dog and four cats. Stephanie has four grown children who are spread out throughout the east coast.

Stephanie loves the outdoors, animals, reading and watching mysteries and she especially loves working with numbers.

Bryan has held many job titles at the Library such as Circulation Clerk, Delivery Driver, IT Assistant, and more. He has always had a passion for helping others and enjoys being able to do that as his job. When he’s not at work, he loves to cheer on all of the Pittsburgh sports teams! Go Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and Pitt Panthers!

Leah has a B.S. in Elementary Education and is pursuing her MLIS. She has a passion for early literacy, library programming and public service. For the past nine years in the Children’s Department, she has enjoyed sharing her love of reading and learning with families and children of all ages. Silly picture books and suspense are her favorite things to read. She loves animals of all kinds, the beach and spending time with her family. 

Kristen enjoys working with children and their families, especially planning and providing Storytimes and family events (both in person and virtually!). Some of her hobbies include hiking the trails of Pennsylvania with her husband and two daughters as well as teaching children’s yoga.

Terry loves to travel and enjoys camping and hiking. He enjoys sports and is a cheer coach for local All StarTeams at Turners. Terry also loves doing crafts. 

Having worked in libraries for the better part of 20 years, the library is a way of life for Nicole! She loves reading just about anything but science fiction, fantasy, horror and mystery are her favorites. A purring kitty in her lap, a hot cup of tea, a good book and a rainy day is her idea of heaven. Nicole loves checking out books and giving book recommendations! 

Robert has been on library staff for 18 years, during that time he has worked in most departments but calls circulation home. Robert enjoys classical music and keeping up on current events. He enjoys training showing new hires the ropes.

Since 2006, Dolly has worked in all three departments of the library. She could write a book about the memorable friendships she’s enjoyed with our staff and patrons! She is a proud mother of three successful children and Grandma to a precious grandson, Robbie.

Vicki has been part of the CCL team since 2018 and is originally from Lancaster, PA. She enjoys working in interlibrary loan, shipping and receiving books from all over the country! She is currently pursuing a library science degree from Clarion University and can’t wait to join the ranks as a full-fledged librarian. Vicki also serves on the board of trustees at the Windber Public Library. In her free time, she enjoys lounging in the hammock with a good book and playing board games with her family. She also loves the ocean, camping and traveling to new places.

Emily recently earned her BA in English Literature from UPJ. She is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Pitt and will be elated when she can finally call herself a librarian! She loves to read the classics, biographies, autobiographies, and anything about Abraham Lincoln. Among her favorite books are The Catcher in the Rye, The Bell Jar, To Kill a Mockingbird, Fahrenheit 451, and The Secret Life of Bees. When she isn’t at the library or doing schoolwork, she enjoys long naps with her dog Abe, as well as spending time with her family.

Jim loves books as well as being as helpful as possible, so delivering materials to the 13 system libraries is a perfect fit for him! When he isn’t working, Jim enjoys nearly any outdoor activity whether it be camping, hiking or trail running. To relax, he likes meditation, yoga and spending time with his family and friends. His favorite thing to do, though, is spend time with his cat Tommy!

Joe likes working at the Cambria County Library, where he’s worked for 21 years. He also works at Grandview Cemetery. He enjoys going to sporting events and watching movies .

Norman has worked at the library for approximately three years. He enjoys working with people and finds his job rewarding.

 As a sophomore in college, Esther was assigned a work-study position as a student assistant in the library’s circulation department. She enjoyed the job well enough to choose it as her career. Esther has had a variety of library positions in both public and academic libraries. For the past two decades, she has been part of the reference staff at the Cambria County Library. When not at work, she enjoys gardening, reading and long walks.  

Laryssa has a MLS from Clarion University and a BA in the History of Art and Architecture and a Certificate in Film Studies, both from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to coming to CCL, she worked in academic libraries for about 15 years as a conservation technician in the preservation field repairing and rebinding books. She has also interned in museum archives in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Laryssa loves books, the older and rarer the better! She also loves history, going to concerts, talking about music and film, being a Thoreauvian, hockey (Go Pens!) and living back here in Western PA after a long time away.

Richard worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years before retiring in 2014. Being a lifelong reader and library patron, he applied for a library position and began working at CCL’s third floor Information Desk in 2016. He considers it a privilege to be the book selector and facilitator of the “Books On Tap” book discussion group.

Joyce’s duties include working with our area’s teens as well as assisting patrons with genealogy and local history. She is the former Executive Director of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, and holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. In her spare time, she loves to read, screenprint, do yoga, climb her and others’ family trees and listen to her teens read their MadLibs during the library’s Open Mic Night. 

After volunteering in her high school library, Mickey worked for eight years at The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh followed by 16 years at Price Waterhouse in their Tax and Audit Library. She went on to work in other careers, but missed the atmosphere and work from her library days. She’s returned to the library work she loves and is thankful to CCL for bringing her “home”. She enjoys assisting patrons and making their trip to the library an enjoyable and successful experience. The thing that makes her the happiest is making someone smile and laugh. Mickey has three children, and she also enjoys cooking, knitting, sewing and reading.  

Jenny is in charge of receiving and cataloging all of the library’s books, music and movies and getting them ready for circulation. She studied Library Science at Clarion University and has been with the Cambria County Library since 2002. In her spare time she enjoys reading and knitting.

Judy has worked at the Cambria County Library since 2011. She likes processing, cataloging and covering books and this is a good role for her because she loves getting to see all of the new books first! Audiobooks are her favorite books to process. She likes reading books by V.C. Andrews. When she is not at work, she is either caring for her two cats or two children. 

Alan is a strong supporter of the Johnstown region. He works as a Plant Manager for NRG Energy Services. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Alan was certified in the MBA Essential Program, University of Pittsburgh, Katz School of Business. He has received several certifications in engineering, safety and finance. He started his career with Penelec and has experience in engineering, mergers & acquisitions, business and strategic planning. He prides himself in the critical role as a promoter of safety at work, at home and on the road.

Alan was first introduced to his library board volunteerism at Richland’s Highland Community Library, and eventually joined the Cambria County Library as well. He currently serves as Board President of the Cambria County System Library, and Secretary of the board of Highland Community Library. 

In addition to Alan’s volunteerism for the Library community, he is also a member of UPJ’s Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee, and Chairman of the Board for Utilities Employees Credit Union, headquartered in Reading, PA.

Alan and his wife, Elaine, have been lifelong residents of Johnstown. They have 2 grown children.

Bill Lantzy graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with an Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He is retired from A/C Power – Colver Operations, where he worked as a Lead Technician. He has previously worked for Bechtel at Hope Creek and Limerick Nuclear Generating Stations.

Bill serves as the Board President of the Northern Cambria Public Library and is a member of the Pennsylvania Library Association. Also serves on the Northern Cambria Planning Commission. 

The Cambria County Library System is a vital service to our community and we are lucky to have the various local libraries, they are the crown jewels of Cambria County.

Cara M. Ferrante is a CPA and Manager at Wessel and Company with 10 years of service at the firm. She has a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Minor in the Legal Environment of Business. She currently serves as the Treasurer for both the Cambria County Library and the Beaverdale Public Library. Cara spent her summers visiting the Beaverdale Public Library as a child where her mother also served as the Treasurer for a few years. She enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and volleyball.

Leanna is project manager at the 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health. She became involved with the Cambria County Library when her son was born and found both the library staff and children’s programming to be remarkable. She believes that public libraries serve as community connectors for people of all backgrounds and agents of social change for the most vulnerable among us.

She holds a Master of Public Policy and Management and Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Sociology from Westminster College. In addition to serving on the CCLSYS Board of Directors, she serves on the Recreation Economy Committee of the Cambria Regional Chamber. She enjoys running, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family.

Aletha is a 1976 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. She earned an Associate Degree in Business (medical) from Cambria-Rowe Business College, a BA in Digital Filmmaking and Video Production from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh; a certificate in film from New York Film Academy, and studied at New York University for Professional Studies in Production. She worked for 17 years at the Pennsylvania Electric Company as a Business Office Specialist. 

Aletha has been active in her church community for the last 40 years, holding various offices in the church, including Sunday school teacher, trustee, and deaconess. She has been a licensed minister since 2008 and presently teaches classes, ushers, serves in the woman’s ministry, and in any other capacity that fulfills her calling to be a servant of God in Christ. Aletha is a member of Peniel Praise Community Church. She is a wife and the mother of 7 children, grandmother of 16, and a great-grandmother of 3. Aletha is a life-long resident of Johnstown, Pa.
