Carnegie Library of the Blind and Physically Handicapped

Carnegie Library of the Blind and Physically Handicapped offers a free braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical limitation that prevents them from reading or holding the printed page. Any person who has challenges using standard print materials due to a temporary or permanent visual or physical limitation is eligible. All services (including equipment) are offered free of charge, without any fees like postage or overdue charges.

Registration for the service requires certification of eligibility by a doctor, social worker, or librarian. Our library director can certify you if you request these services, and we can help you apply. We have a digital player and a few sample digital cartridges with popular titles that you can try in the library.

You can find more information about this service here.

Library Social Story

Reading Highland Community Library’s social story before you visit the library will prepare your child for a library visit and help them gain familiarity with the library so they can feel comfortable during their visit.
